Japan collage work
UF in Tokyo- Summer2008

The UF in Tokyo summer study abroad trip was a unique opportunity to work and study in Japan using a curriculum of creative writing, literature, and collage. The program presented an analysis of Japanese culture through the writing of Roland Barthes and the creation of collages through collected ephemera. At the end of the trip we, the students, put together a gallery show of our work that was displayed at the Design Festa gallery in Tokyo.

A Collection of Found Objects: Japan
Mixed Media

Book of Collected ephemera. This book create a very personal dialog with Japan and the city of Tokyo, as I collected objects while traversing the different districts and landmarks during the trip. Each page utilizes the esthetic appeal of each of the found objects to create individual compositions.

A physical collage of the "cute" characters that are so prevalent in Japanese advertisement and pop culture. The piece was installed on the gallery wall to create an immediate impact with the viewer.
